Deruta " Rooster of Fortune "

So the story goes ;
The Medici family was, for their time, the wealthiest family in the Republic of Florence. Which made them the most powerful.
The Pazzi family wanted to take over that power and attempted to assassinate the Medici family to gain that power.
Giuliani dei Medici had decided to hold his festival in a small village called Gillian in the fall of 1478. He took along his bodyguards,cooks, tailors, artists, entertainers and craftsmen of various trades.
So late that night the Pazzi family snuck into the town to assassinate him and his guards. But one thing forgot is that the yard in and around was full of roosters. So the cackling of the roosters woke Giuliano and his guards.
He was so pleased with the roosters that he threw another festival. He ordered his artisans to create a ceramic replica of rooster and adorn then with various designs to be used as wine vessels which he gave to his family and friends for good luck and blessings in prosperity, well being and misfortune
